Do you fell the call of the wild? You will never guess who it is…

Do you want to pet a deer, a horse or a black Slavonian pig?

Do you like animals and wildlife, but you’ve only seen them on some of your devices? In Drežnik Grad, 12 km from the Plitvice Lakes National Park, there is one of the most beautiful and special tourist destinations in Croatia – a place where you can not only find Bambi, but have it eat out of the palm of your hand. Deer Valley Ranch is a huge fenced wildlife habitat that spreads over 15 hectares with about 100 different game animals. The Bićanić family have dedicated their lives to caring for their beautiful animals such as timid bucks and does, stubborn fallow deer, surprisingly intelligent black Slavonian pigs, and three beautiful horses – Bela the mare, Sokol the stallion, and the noble Arab who spent its working life as a rehabilitation horse for children with motor skills problems, and today enjoys his retirement days on this beautiful ranch and can’t wait to meet you. Make your wish come true – drop by the ranch and feel the connection that man has shared with the wild since the dawn of time, feed and pet animals that are not easily tamed.  And don’t forget to bring your kids. When you get home, you will be telling everybody about it!

Just remember that you need to call ahead of your visit. Opening hours are from 9 am to 11 am and from 5 pm to 7 pm. Outside opening hours, the animals have the ranch all for themselves! Be sure to call a few days ahead of your visit. For more information, the Bićanić family is available at +385 99 222 3033 every day from 9 am to 3 pm.

When around game, there are some rules to follow…

  • Do not bring your own pet food. You will get the animal feed at the ranch.
  • Animals instinctively recognize and treat children with special needs or poor motor skills differently – they are great therapists!
  • Animals can sense your mood, if you’re relaxed or nervous and stressed. They won’t approach you if you’re not having a good day.
  • Fallow deer are the hardest to tame. They are not looking for a master, but for a servant. Are there any volunteers?
